As I am hours away from embarking on this upcoming adventure I can’t help but to think back on a reflect on how far I’ve come to get to this point. Through the preparation for this trip I’ve crossed two things off my bucket list.
While preparing for this trip we learned about why the Mariposa Foundation was created. I’ll attach a hyperlink of their website at the end of this entry. While learning about their purpose, my purpose for this trip completely changed from goal to a personal mission. During my study aboard experience my colleagues and I will be teaching English to students in the school. This experience already has a special experience in my heart because of the work we will be doing. I’m nervous about the communication portion, I haven’t spoken Spanish since high school. I’m nervous about the adulting I’m going to have to do with managing. My funds over the course of these next few weeks as well. I already miss my family and loved ones, but I know that this is something that they all would want me to participate in. I literally I have so many emotions that I can’t even begin to describe them. One thing I do refuse is to allow fear to prevent me from enjoying myself and getting the most out of this experience. One thing I learned since the beginning of this study aboard process is to just go for everything that I truly want to do and not talk myself out of it. SO, with that being said Bring it on! https://mariposadrfoundation.org
