The Program
The International PDS program in Cabarete, Dominican Republic (IPDS-Dominican Republic) enables teacher education candidates to learn about education in the Dominican Republic, complete service learning activities, and study the Spanish language through a partnership with the Mariposa DR Foundation and 3 Mariposas Montessori.
IPDS Dominican Republic is is a 3-credit program that includes 2 weeks abroad in January. Participants collaborate with educators and girls (ages 8-18) at the Mariposa Center for Girls, engage with children in local schools, study the Dominican education system through interactions with teachers and administrators, engage in intensive Spanish language instruction and activities, build relationships through one-on-one engagement, and develop an understanding and appreciation of Dominican life through exposure to the culture and history of this coastal town and its surrounding areas. |
The Participants
As they transition through the various adventures of their teach & study abroad experience, participants share moments, visions, and thoughts through journal entries and photographs. Read about each participant's adventures and perceptions on their individual blog pages. Share your comments, questions, and supportive words as you peruse...and stop back often!
IPDS-Dominican Republic is open to all Buffalo State currently enrolled teacher education students. Visit the Buffalo State IPDS program page for application deadlines and information.
